Workshops: My workshop timetable is a little different from the usual approach. - I ask the participants to set the date, the length of the school, how many are coming, a minimum of 2, ( can be a painter with a friend/partner who may prefer to read or go fishing!) up to a maximum of 4
.... or more if they can help with transport. People need to book their own accomodation in the area. I just work in with their arrangements. In other words, they do the administration, I do the teaching.
Locations: Because I live here in Glenorchy and I'm surrounded by a fantastic landscape, I prefer to do schools here. I'll take you out to paint "plein - air" or, if the weather turns bad, I'll teach you indoors. However, if a large group want to take part, (up to 12 or so), I'll go to the group - it's cheaper and helps save the planet!
What to expect: At least 1 demonstration painting, teaching on design, colour, tones, brushwork, etc, etc. Also advice on equipment, the painting process - in fact everything I know and the answers to questions as well. A critique of your work at the end, and good natured fun alongside the harder stuff - learning to paint.
What to bring: Easel and palette, several large brushes (flats, long bristle, sizes 10 - 12), paints, medium with dipper, several canvasses in varied sizes, paper towels, kerosene, a tall sided tin for washing brushes, warm clothes and boots, a hat, insect repellent, and perhaps most important - a determination to make great strides in your painting.
Prices: $300 each/ per day for small groups, $250 each for groups of 5 or more. I negotiate a price with groups when larger numbers are involved.
