For several
years after I started painting, I worked in the studio from sketches
done on location. Working outdoors from nature seemed too difficult
- wind, rain, cold, sandflies, spectators, etc. I was eventually
persuaded to try working outdoors again. It did prove difficult
but, with persistance, was so much more rewarding. I now work "plein
air" as often as possible and encourage others to do the same.
These photos were taken as I painted on the South Coast of Wellington, New Zealand - one of my favourite painting areas. I'll try to replace this painting with a new one from time to time. Watch this space.
